As Early Intervention Professionals, we need to ensure that we start in the right way and address this important and central developmental area well. Learn about the foundations of gross motor development, about evidence-based, powerful and targeted intervention and get ready-to-use practical ideas.
The session will focus on children (3-9 years) with developmental delays (with/ without conditions).
The 1 hour session uses a developmental frame of reference and is strategy-based, covering:
The importance of addressing Gross- Motor development for overall child development
Early Intervention Principles when working with young children and families
Foundational frames of references to support assessment and intervention
Assessment of Gross-Motor development (including commonly used assessment tools and tuning in your observation skills)
Intervention for Gross-Motor development: motor planning, muscle tone, muscle strength, postural stability and strength, balance, gross eye-hand coordination
