15 - Reflective Workshop on Neurodiversity Affirming Practice

15 - Reflective Workshop on Neurodiversity Affirming Practice

Enhance your understanding and application of Neurodiversity Affirming Practice in this engaging and reflective professional development workshop. Designed for occupational therapists and allied health professionals, this session explores how we can integrate neuro-affirmative approaches into our daily practice to better support neurodivergent clients.

Neurodiversity is not a new concept, but its impact is transforming how we provide inclusive, individualised care. As research, advocacy, and lived experiences continue to shape our understanding, it is essential that OTs adapt their practice to align with neuro-affirming principles. This workshop provides an opportunity to reflect on current approaches, challenge assumptions, and ensure that our interventions celebrate strengths, identity, and personal preferences.

Led by Dr Kobie Boshoff, offering insights from current research, and Lucy Absalom, an experienced neurodivergent practitioner, this session balances theory with real-world application. Participants will engage in discussion, self-reflection, and practical exercises to strengthen their ability to deliver truly client-centred, neuro-affirming service.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of Neurodiversity and Neurodiversity Affirming Practice.

  • Reflect on your current therapeutic approaches and identify areas for growth.

  • Learn how to apply neuro-affirmative principles across different settings and across the lifespan.

Unique Features:
